Go to xda to read more about, Product Code and IMEI issues. Thank God, I didn't experience it and was able to restore to original GT-I9000HKAGLB, IMEI intact.

Some were saying that Samsung was careless to upload JPC via KIES, making it look 'official' but it's the users' fault, including me, who are the ones careless to enter 'test mode' and update to this firmware, the day it was posted on XDA. All issues surfaced a day after and too late that we all got the GT-I9000HKAKOR product code, which is said to be a test product code, making it impossible to update to official 2.2 when it becomes available.

Fast forward- was informed by a friend, @rbacosta about this issue last night and I wasn't alarmed since I am happy running JPC, but being a 'flashoholic" and curious, I told him I will check and flash to the official JG4 to see if I indeed have the KOR product code, and yes, KOR that is.

Alarmed? Hell, NO!! By this time, I know there are people in XDA who posted workaround already how to get back the product code and after a few reads and downloads, I am ready to get GLB back to my Samsung Galaxy S. Did it work? Read on....

Based on this post in XDA, I prepared my phone. I needed to flash again to JPC via ODIN so I can do the nv_data.bak AND nv_data.bak.md5. I just copied and pasted everything and encountered "directory not found' towards the last cmd entry, continued and rebooted.

While rebooting, removed the battery and launched ODIN v1.13 so I can flash to official JG4, waited and done in less than 5 minutes. I immediately unplugged my phone and launched the registry editor and removed the kies folder inside the Samsung registry. Launched Samsung Kies and was presented again with the Registry Editor and I just selected yes, and Kies launched without any problem. Did a Driver Restoration and after I finally plugged my phone. Clicked Firmware upgrade and I saw the "The latest version is already installed on connected device" as opposed to "The device connected cannot be updated" under KOR. Checked Registry and there, i have my product code back.

I didn't stop, I flashed again to the old JF4 and luckily Samsung Kies detected a new firmware available (JG4) and updated (again) this time via Kies. I checked again after and I still have the GLB.

Just a thought, what works for me might not to others, so just proceed with caution as there are reports from XDA that their Product Codes changed to XXX and even IMEI when they ran the nv_data.bak.

Couple of my screen grabs are here for reference.
